Upcoming Events!

Hey Afterschoolers (and their parents)!

I have some really exciting news for our program! For those that don't know me, I'm from Pendleton County. Anyway, I've been talking with Pendleton's high school "A-Team" (Art Club), and I heard that they are doing this cool ArtStart program with Northern and Southern Elementary school. Well, guess what! If all works out, they will start coming to our AfterSchool program once or twice a month! I've very excited to have them come to visit us and watch the kids challenge themselves and learn from the fun activities!

Next exciting news for this post's agenda: Listening Center/Computer time.  My mom has revived my old college laptop so we now have two computers to use during Afterschool. My personal laptop is full of kids learning games that they can play, and the other will be used for specific children's learning and game sites. I will also be having books on CD's so kids can listen to them.  With this being said, if your child could bring their own headphones to keep in my class, that would be great. This would allow them to stick their headphones in the computer or CD player so they can listen to the story/game. If not, it could cause a lot of chaos with all the noise.  Or, if you would like to purchase them from me, I have them for $2.

Last thing for today: Friday is Wii day! During the 4 o'clock hour we will be playing games like Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Just Dance, and other games that require a little physical activity. I'm sure there will be lots of picture on that day, so I'll be sure to post pics before the Holiday weekend is over :)

Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

2011 School year has already started! Crazy! We've already had to start doing homework here in AfterSchool! The first week or two are always a little crazy and different with getting into a routine because of schedules. Not everyone stays everyday, so some kids haven't even had their first days with us. But, that doesn't mean we aren't busy playing and learning!

We've been talking about our favorite things, and how God made everything. We've also been singing the song "Who's the King of the Jungle", so if you've heard that song... or seen them acting like an animal... that might be why :)

We've also been enjoying yoga, keychain making, and the dice exercise game. Plus, the playground outside.
